Desert Rising

A short story tells of shimmering blue water rising from the desert after a long dry season, its cool surface glinting beneath the sun. The Elder women watched as the water flowed gently across the land, filling dry creek beds and soaking into the thirsty earth. Fresh scents drifted through the air as the water nourished parched plants and brought new life to the Country. Bright wildflowers began to bloom in bursts of colour, soft green grasses swayed in the breeze, and the once dusty landscape transformed into a rich green expanse. The women gathered together to prepare food.
